The Sycamore Presbyterian Church Endowment

The Sycamore Presbyterian Church Endowment was established in 2007 to allow members and friends of SPC the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy to the church in support of its goals and purposes. Just as annual stewardship giving is a chance to return to God a portion of our annual income, contributions to the endowment provide a means to share the accumulated gifts which God provides us as a long-term support for the church's ministry.

The SPC Endowment Committee encourages gifts from wills, trusts, and bequests and invests such gifts so as to preserve and grow the fund principle, using the earnings prudently for designated purposes.

The Endowment Fund consists of several sub-funds which are designed to meet special purposes of the intended gift.  Initially we will have three such sub-funds: General, Mission and Scholarship.

Your tax-deductible donation to the Endowment Fund is your gift that keeps on giving. Your gift to the Fund lasts in perpetuity.  An endowment fund grows through gifts of cash, securities, real estate, life insurance policies, life income trusts and bequests.

The Endowment Funds are professionally invested and managed. The Endowment Committee has adopted an investment policy that allows the Church to use earnings from the Fund to support many forms of outreach and causes,  as well as major capital improvements. The investment policy of the Fund is designed to provide real growth and protection from inflation. Your initial gift to the Endowment Fund is permanent and will support our missions and fuel the future of the Church in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

---------------------

Direct Giving

Gifts of Property

Bequests

Beneficiary Designations

Charitable Remainder Trust

Charitable Lead Trust

Bequests can be made to Sycamore Presbyterian Church in your will, or more simply, via a codicil to your will. A codicil may be added without changing the rest of the will.
You may make Sycamore Presbyterian Church the owner and beneficiary of a paid up life insurance policy. You may also designate SPC as the beneficiary of an IRA or qualified retirement plan. In either case, the church may be named as a full beneficiary, a percentage beneficiary or a contingent beneficiary.
An arrangement in which property or money is donated to a charity, but the donor (called the grantor) continues to use the property and/or receive income from it while living. The beneficiaries receive the income and the charity receives the principal after a specified period of time.
Like a Charitable Remainder Trust, Charitible Lead Trusts offer current income tax deductions and a reduction of capital gains taxes. The only difference is the CLT flip-flops the parties involved. SPC becomes the income beneficiary, receiving a steady stream of income during the owner's lifetime. At the owner's passing, the church then receives the bulk of the CLT's assets. And just like the CRT, Charitable Lead Trusts also receive the same preferential tax treatment.

Remember to consult your attorney, financial advisor or estate planner.

Direct gifts are made directly to the church with cash or other tangible property. Gifts of this kind are typically made during the donor's lifetime, or may be planned as a legacy gift. An example of a legacy gift would be a charitable lead trust.
For gifts of property (land, homes, vehicles, etc...) please contact a member of the SPC Endowment Committee prior to planning.
