RENOVATION AND EXPANSION UPDATE

02-09-12

This morning the rising sun revealed a number of concrete trucks and the concrete pump truck as work began pouring the top and lower decks of the lower level area.  A new storm water drain is also being installed.

CONCRETE IS FLOWING!

The concrete boom truck delivers material from the mixer to the top deck of the lower level section of the new sanctuary area.

CONCRETE IS FLOWING!

Work began this morning on pouring the decks of the lower level area of the new sanctuary.

CAN YA' DIG IT?

Installation of a new storm water drain progresses.

Today, the first load of steel that will form the structure of the new sanctuary/narthex/portico was received at the site and unloaded.  The lower level mechanical area is fully walled and foundation work on the main sanctuary has begin.  If anyone knows how to get rid of this rain, we would ALL appreciate it!!!

The excitement is building as workers have begun assembling the foms ad rebar that will allow the pouring of concrete and the start of foundation work on our new addition.  Last week, workers mixed lime with the wet soil forming a much more solid surface on which to work.  Even with rain in the forecast later this week, work should be able to continue almost without stopping.  Check out the most recent photos of the project in the gallery just below!

Because of the recent rains, site work has sort of ground to a halt this week.  Monday morning will see the addition of a lime mixture to the soil on the property that will help solidify the surface and avoid future lengthy rain and moisture delays.  Current plans are to begin digging for the foundation work next Thursday.

11-28-11

All bids except for the sanctuary and youth space AUDIO VISUAL package are in and the Facilities Development Team has been working hard to keep all costs within the approved project budget.  Reductions have been made in several areas of the project...reductions that do not affect the overall look and feel of the plan.  As of this writing, the estimated completion date of the project is sometime the first week of October, 2012.  Setbacks by numerous rain events have conspired to delay things a bit.

10-28-11

Bids for the initial phases of work on the renovation and expansion of our facility are in and, as you may have noticed, site work is progressing nicely.  After losing a number of weeks to inclement weather, crews have successfully filled in the pond, leveled the work site and are now shaping the contour of the land to accommodate the new sanctuary and the lower level HVAC area.

Much of the dirt that was used to fill in the lake was taken from the south side of the property.  No, we're not having another lake!  The area will be filled-in, graded and will become the detention area for water run-off.

The second round of bids, more related to the actual construction phase are coming in and will be evaluated by Schumacher Construction and by our Facilities Development Team.  Current plans project the digging and placement of footings for the new sanctuary/narthex to begin by mid-November.
