SPC ADULT MINISTRIES

Our call at Sycamore Presbyterian Church is to offer the breadth and depth of opportunities to meet those varied adult education and spiritual growth needs.  We are continually challenged to find innovative and interesting ways to help members and friends build their relationship with Jesus.

Are you looking for a new job?  If you are unemployed, underemployed or just unsatisfied with your current job, then SPC has a GREAT resource for you called Sycamore Opportunities Network (SON)! 

At SON meetings you will be able to talk to Human Resources professionals, as well as other professionals, and you will learn exciting new ways that will increase your chances of finding a rewarding new job. 

SON meetings take place on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. We have a GREAT success rate!

Adult Spiritual Growth Opportunities

  • Men’s Prayer Breakfast   7:30 am

On the first Sunday of every month, the Men of Sycamore gather for breakfast, fellowship, a short, peer-led devotion, and time of prayer at 7:30 AM.

  • Adult Bible Study   10:30 am

Sunday Morning Bible Study: At 9:45 AM, our multi-generational group gathers in Room B1 to explore God’s Word and its practical application in our daily lives.  Starting on September 19, 2010, we will reconvene to begin a new 12 week study of the book of Revelation.  Revelation unveils Jesus Christ in glory.  Throughout its pages, we hear the apostle John relate the message of hope assuring Christians that God is in sovereign control of all past, present, and future events.  Whether you are a new explorer or one who has been on the journey for awhile, you will find this a richly rewarding time together. Be sure to bring your coffee cup.  All are welcome.

  • Women’s Bible Study   10:30 am

Monday Morning Bible Study is currently studying the Book, The Shack.  Coffee at 10:00 am and lesson beginning by 10:30 am, in B-1.  

Participants are responsible for purchasing their own book.

  • Tuesday Morning Women’s Bible Study   9:30 a

In October, a study called Adventurous Prayer, from the Women of Faith Study Guide Series begins.

The group meets the first and third Tuesday, each month during the school year, from 9:30 – 11:00 AM, in the Morrow Room.  Schedule adjusted for holidays.

  • Lamplighters Small Group   7:30 – 9:00 pm

 

Mere Christianity – Lamplighters, the Tuesday night Bible study group begins the illuminating study of C. S. Lewis’ book, Mere Christianity. Understanding his journey from atheist to Christian can be very helpful in understanding our own beliefs and faith journey.  New study begins on February 2.  Generally meet in homes, Tuesday nights, 7:30 to 9:00 PM.

  • Men’s Bible Study   6:45 am

The Men of Sycamore get together in a small group before work in the church library every Wednesday.  The group focuses on bible study and fellowship.  We have a lifelong goal: to become Christ's disciples in the world.  You are invited to the next meeting…the door opens at 6:45 AM and the coffee is always hot!

  • Beth Moore Women’s Bible Study   9:30 – 11:15 am

Wednesday Morning Women's Bible Study meets at 9:30 am.  This small group for women meets weekly during the regular school year in Room B-1.  The group is a wonderful opportunity for fellowship, as they share praise and prayer requests, reviews study guide materials, and view video programs of inspirational women speakers.  Childcare is available upon request.  Wednesday, January 27 a new small group Bible study,  Breaking Free by Beth Moore.  Child care provided.

Eunice Circle. This group of Sycamore women meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month.  Meetings include a light lunch, brief devotional, and an inspirational speaker.

Coffee and Conversation

This gathering is for ALL women of ALL ages. Bring your favorite coffee mug and join us on the second Saturday each month during the school year (Oct. through April) from 9:30 - 11:00 AM We will share good food, fellowship, and topical discussions relevant to the lives of Christian women.  Childcare is available with registration.
